things we need
- 2 headphone splitters (1 male end, 2 female ends)
- 3 headphone extenders (1 male end, 1 female end)
- 1 tape to record on (90 min?)
- 1 tape to master on (14-30 min)
- 50 tapes to press
- Cases, inserts, etc. for tapes
- RCA cable for mixing
how to record for maximum radicality
- Record basic backing tracks first on 2 tracks
- Track 1: emphasis on drums (alex) and guitar (ben)
- Track 2: emphasis on bass (max) and guitar (chris)
- Sing during recordings, with emphasis on backing vocals
- Record backing tracks to all songs under consideration before moving on to tracks 3 and 4
- Record vocals onto tracks 3 and 4
- Record lead and backing vocals simultaneously
- Other instruments should be played while vocals are recording: organ, acoustic guitar, doubled guitar solo, tambourine, maraca, etc. We will need to experiment with these so they aren’t too loud on the track.
- Mix 4 track down onto master tape via tape deck.
- Dupe master tape via tape deck.
